Magic is in the air as the Harry Potter cast reunited virtually in celebration of the 19th anniversary of the first-ever film in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
The virtual event through Veeps with the hashtag #19YearsLater was hosted by none other than Tom Felton who played Draco Malfoy. Daniel Radcliffe who portrayed Harry Potter as well as Ruper Grint who played his best friend Ron, were also present.
Meanwhile, real-life twins James and Oliver Phelps who played Ron’s twin brothers George and Fred Weasley; Evanna Lynch who played Lune Lovegood; Mark Williams who played Arthur Weasley, Jason Isaac who was Draco’s dad in the movie; Bonnie Wright who played Ginny Weasley and Harry’s wife, and Alfred Enoch who played Dean Thomas also graced the virtual occasion.
The cast talked about the fun times they had when they were on set. Rupert shared photos of his newborn daughter and insisted that he was the most professional on set.
He reminisced, “I remember on Potter it would always be the most inappropriate scenes, like Dumbledore’s funeral was a particularly bad one. For some reason, I found that absolutely hilarious. And yeah, once you start laughing, it’s very hard to stop. I had a particularly bad reputation, they used to call me ‘Go Again Grint’ because I could never do anything without doing it like 20 times.”
In fact, he shared that in order to fight off the giggling, he and his co-star Daniel had to film in separate takes the unforgettable scene when they first met on the Hogwarts Express.
Tom mentioned about a possible Harry Potter reunion last month. He told Us Weekly, “It’s the 19th-year anniversary on Nov. 14, so I’m planning some sort of digital celebration. I’m trying to wrangle all the oldies back together again to celebrate the achievement, really.” He also added that they had little reunions through the years using WhatsApp to stay in touch with each other.
Meanwhile, there’s definitely a bigger reunion brewing as they will celebrate their 20th anniversary next year. During the livestream, Daniel teased that his first thought regarding this reunion was that it is but a preview of the nostalgia that they’ll be immersed in next year when they will hit their 20th year since the first movie was released.
