John Legend and Carrie Underwood teamed up this holiday season to bring fans a new Christmas song and its music video.

The two singers collaborated in performing “Hallelujah”, Carrie’s original song from My Gift, her first Christmas album. In their music video, John is seen singing while playing the piano in a candlelit manor as snow falls all around him. Meanwhile, Carrie is wearing a snow-flake inspired gown and singing beside him.

The new song has very inspiring lyrics that will surely lift the spirits of fans especially after being affected by the pandemic and other challenges this 2020.

The two artists sing together, “Ooh, let thеre be peace on earth / Let the lonely join together, let them know their worth / Ooh, let the children know. There’s a brighter day ahead, let’s hold on to hope / And on the coldest evening in this December / Let us pray the spirit of love will linger.”

Fans were very happy with their collaboration. A fan wrote in the comments, “This is truely [sic] a classic.. No gimmicks or too much effects.. Just two talented artists putting their amazing vocals to the forefront.”

Another commented, “Okayyyy I’m actually crying! I love this! Yalls voices together are powerful and this is now a top favorite song!”

In addition to the beautiful blending of their voices, John and Carrie also experienced pregnancy loss.

A fan mentioned, “Carrie understands what John and his wife went through because Carrie and her husband had lost a baby before. So this is really beautiful that they made a beautiful song together.”

Carrie’s album also includes covers of famous Christmas songs such as “Silent Night”, “Mary Did You Know” “Oh Come All Ye Faithful”, and “Away in a Manger.”

She told Today, “I didn’t want to let this year stop us. To be honest, it was such a blessing for me to be able to go in and just sing these happy, positive songs this year. It was something I needed, and hopefully people can make it a soundtrack to their Christmas this year and just be happy, put a smile on their face and celebrate the things that are good around them.”
