Gwen Stefani is more than excited to be finally engaged to her long-time beau Blake Shelton. Just like with other couples who became engaged during the pandemic, all wedding plans are put on hold.
The 51-year-old singer joined Ryan Seacrest on Monday, December 7, on his show On Air with Ryan Seacrest. Stefani gushed how he and the 44-year-old country singer are meant to be together.
She said, “It’s so funny to even say ‘engaged.’ It feels so weird. People have been saying it for so long, like five years, ‘Are you getting married? Are you engaged?’ And now we actually are and it feels like I’m in a cartoon or something.”
The No Doubt lead vocalist has recently released her latest single, “Let Me Reintroduce Myself”, which is her first solo non-holiday related song since she dropped This Is What The Truth Feels Like in 2016.
Seacrest also asked whether she wants to have a smaller or larger wedding after the pandemic and she said that all she wants is for her father Dennis and mother Patti to be present on her big day no matter what.
Stefani answered, “I would say I just want my parents there at this point. My parents wouldn’t come to Thanksgiving because they’re so scared so really would rather it not be a COVID situation. Like, I would rather not have masks and that kind of thing.”
“Even when you cut it down to just family, it’s too many people for COVID so we’re going to see what happens in the next few months,” The Voice coach added.
Shelton proposed to the mother of three who shares Kingston, 14, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, 6, with former husband Gavin Rossdale, at his ranch in Tishomingo, Oklahoma where they quarantined together. The couple announced their engagement on October 27.
They met and fell in love on the set of The Voice in 2015. They’re both ready to finally tie the knot. In fact, a source told PEOPLE after they announced their engagement, “Blake told her boys that he wanted to propose and asked their permission. Her family very much approves of him. He’s an amazing partner and a great extra dad to the boys. Gwen is ecstatic. The proposal was a surprise.”
