Did you know that there are celebrities who also get star struck whenever they see their idols in the entertainment industry? Take for instance pop star Ariana Grande who is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in the music world today.
This Christmas, it seems that the newly engaged singer couldn’t help but talk about how much she loves another singer and her idol, Mariah Carey. Based on her Netflix Documentary entitled excuse me, I love you, together with a new film that gives fans the chance to see what happened behind the scenes of her Sweetener Tour, Ariana also showed how much she idolizes Mariah.
Based on the film, the singer got a call from Scooter Braun, her manager, informing her that the “All I Want for Christmas is You” singer wanted to make a music video for her popular holiday song featuring some of her favorite artists dancing to her music.
Ariana looked very excited and asked her manager if Mariah likes her. Scooter confirmed that she likes her very much. Upon hearing this, she was very happy and explained how much the music icon had impacted her life.
She said, “It just means a lot to hear from her because my sound was so influenced by her and the ’90s pop sound. The fact that she thought of me is very soul-shaking. You know what I mean? It just means a lot, as an artist and a fan.”
The Grammy winner also mentioned that she “learned to sing by mimicking her, and Whitney and Beyoncé.”
Many have been comparing Ariana to Mariah, a comparison that many assumed that the “Always Be My Baby” singer didn’t like especially after her ex-husband Nick Cannon’s controversial comment in 2018 in Vlad TV.
Nick explained, “It was like, ‘the next’ or ‘the new’ Mariah Carey. [And Mariah’s like] ‘The f–k does that mean?’ I’m the Mariah Carey, why do you need another one? Why do you need the next one?'”
It turned out that both singers appreciate each other. Ariana appeared on Mariah’s “Oh, Santa!” in 2020 together with Jennifer Hudson. This is definitely one of Ariana’s best years in the industry.
