In 2016, Amber Heard promised to donate the money she got from her divorce settlement from Johnny Depp. However, the actor’s legal team claimed she didn’t donate it to charities.

According to The Daily Mail, Depp’s lawyers intend to use such allegation to appeal the decision of the British High Court judge Andrew Nichol for the actor’s defamation case against The Sun. Nichol took side with the publication arguing, “Her donation of the $7 million to charity is hardly the act one would expect of a gold-digger.”

The Aquaman actress’ lawyer Elaine Bredehoft confirmed in a statement to E! News that Heard has yet to fulfil her pledge of $7 million to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the American Civil Liberties Union.

The attorney explained, “Amber has already been responsible for seven figures in donations to charitable causes and intends to continue to contribute and eventually fulfill her pledge. However, Amber has been delayed in that goal because Mr. Depp filed a lawsuit against her, and consequently, she has been forced to spend millions of dollars defending Mr. Depp’s false accusations against her.”

On the other hand, a spokesperson from the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles said in a statement to E! News, “Due to circumstances of the litigation, CHLA is legally precluded from sharing details about the case publicly.”

In addition, Bredehoft alleged that Depp’s lawyers are speculating the actress’ donation on purpose to distract people from the actor’s ongoing legal problems. She claimed, “Mr. Depp’s effort to plant stories in the media criticizing Amber for not yet fulfilling all the donations she pledged to charity is yet another desperate attempt to divert attention from the UK Court’s findings relating to allegations of Mr. Depp committing domestic abuse and violence.”

Depp was asked to resign from his role as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts though he’ll still receive his full salary for the said project. He was replaced by Mads Mikkelsen for the third instalment of the said movie.

Meanwhile, Depp is suing his ex-wife for defamation in the British High Court. He claimed that her allegations of domestic abuse were part of an elaborate hoax. He’s suing her for defamation and damages in excess of $50,000,000. Heard denies his allegation and claimed that Depp was only trying to silence her.
