Award season is here!
After being delayed for a month, the 2021 IFP Gotham Awards finally revealed its winners. The ceremony is on its 30th year and s organized by the Independent Filmmaker Project.
The event took place in New York City. It was attended by some select individuals while some presenters like Zachary Pinto did their job from home. Meanwhile, others like Padma Lakshmi were at the venue to present the awards.
Meanwhile, there were delays in the release of some of the movies because of the coronavirus pandemic but many were considered to be a part of the show such as Sound of Metal, Nomadland, and First Cow.
Some of the big winners were Viola Davis who was given the Gotham Awards Actress Tribute and Ryan Murphy who was awarded the IFP Gotham Awards Industry Tribute.
Also, Andre Holland asked for a moment of silence in honor of the late Chadwick Boseman. The Black Panther star was posthumously nominated for Best Actor for his portrayal of a trumpet player in the film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, his final role. Meanwhile, he was honored the Gotham Awards Actor Tribute which was accepted by his wife Simone Ledward Boseman on his behalf.
