Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy are finally moving on with their lives as they finally reached their divorce settlement.
This news came eight months after the 34-year-old fashion designer signed a petition to divorce her 51-year-old husband in April last year. However, the procedure was delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The former actress requested for an emergency order to end their marriage, alleging that her then-husband terminated the lease on their home in New York City and expected that she move out of there amid the pandemic.
Based on a copy of the affidavit obtained by People, she stated, “I am petrified that my husband is trying to deprive me of the home that we have lived in and if he is successful, I will not only lose my home but I risk losing my personal property as well.”
In the middle of May, her request was denied because only essential or emergency filings were accepted that time. Fortunately for the Full House alum, she successfully filed for divorce at the end of May. Also, the Manhattan County clerk accepted and processed the summons and complaint she filed.
Though it wasn’t clear what caused the couple’s divorce, many speculated that the two have their differences. A source told E!, “Mary-Kate started coming around to the idea of having a baby and thinking about it seriously. But Olivier was a closed book on that subject and was opposed to the idea. He felt like he had closed that chapter of his life and didn’t want to go back. She didn’t like the idea of not even being able to explore the possibility.”
Also, Olivier is very social and loves going to events and be with different people. On the other hand, Mary-Kate is more of a homebody who prefers the company of her closest friends. She focuses on her brand and works hard.
Meanwhile, her twin Ashley Olsen offered her support. The two were seen hanging out in New York City in December.
If fans could recall, Mary-Kate married the banker in 2015 in an intimate wedding ceremony. It was her first marriage and Oliver’s second. He was once married to Charlotte Bernard and had two children with her.
As reported earlier, Zoe Kravitz filed for divorce from husband Glusman on December 23 last year.
