    These Politically Active Celebs Aren’t Afraid to Share Their Views

    The election is only a few months away and already, many celebrities are using their voices to express their political views. Many of them had been very open about their views on issues affecting the country and the world and have been using their platforms to spread awareness. Below are some of the politically active celebrities out there:

    LeBron James

    LeBron James Tweet on elections

    The NBA star had been very outspoken in supporting the Black Lives Matter movement following the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and more. The basketball player also tweeted about demanding change after Jacob Blake was shot in the back in Kenosha, Wisconsin by police officers. He’s also helping spearheading an effort to recruit younger poll watchers for the election.

    John Legend

    The singer and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, denounced President Donald Trump and even called him racist before the 2016 election. Legend is vocal about his political views and on the second night of the Democratic National Convention this month, he offered his support to Joe Biden as presidential nominee.

    Kerry Washington

    The Little Fires Everywhere actress has been promoting several social and political issues including encouraging others to vote. She also worked with Black Lives Matter. She’s also known for choosing roles that focus on social justice issues like the Broadway play American Son. According to her, actors are activists because they embody the humanity and worth of everybody.

    Jane Fonda

    The actress has always been politically active. She was known for protesting the Vietnam War and uses her platform to promote social change. She also launched in fall 2019 “Fire Drill Fridays”, a civil disobedience campaign that aims to combat climate change.

    The 18-year-old singer debuted her first live performance of her song “My Future” on the third night of the Democratic National Convention. Before her performance, she mentioned that Donald Trump is destroying the country and everything that people care about. According to her, people need leaders who will solve problems and not deny them and it starts with voting against Trump and voting for Joe Biden.

    Demi Lovato

    The singer supported the Black Lives Matter and paid tribute to Breonna Taylor on her birthday where she continued to advocate for justice and asked fans to do the same. During the 2020 GLAAD Awards, she talked about fighting for trans rights. She also encouraged others to sign petitions, educate themselves and others, and donate.
