Netflix just revealed that Simone Ashley will be joining the Bridgerton cast as Kate Sharma, Anthony’s leading lady. Her character is smart and headstrong and undoubtedly someone the eldest Bridgerton will fall smitten for.
Of course, Lady Whistledown couldn’t help but keep her readers informed about this latest development. She took to Twitter to share the juicy details. She wrote, “Quite the juicy bit of gossip, dear readers. This author is certainly looking forward to many a column covering Miss Kate Sharma.” She included a bee emoji in her post as well.
Season 2 will be based on the book, The Viscount Who Loved Me, and follows the story of Anthony as he searches for a woman to be his wife. Based on the book, he was first interested in Kate’s sister but somehow, the meddlesome woman found her way to his heart.
In the book, Anthony got angry at Kate for trying to stop his wedding with her sister. However, no matter how mad he was at her, he would often find himself fantasizing about her in the most erotic dreams he ever had.
Jonathan Bailey who plays Anthony Bridgerton claimed he has big hopes for his character’s future especially after acting like a villain in season one.
He said, “I think with Anthony, you just want him to be all right. You want him to learn how to love himself and hopefully to make some mistakes without those mistakes causing serious hurt to the people that he loves. I want to see him on the dance floor. I want to see him smile a little bit more. I want to see those mutton chops back. There’s so much scope for him.”- Advertisement -
So far, the show hasn’t announced yet when they’ll start production of season 2. However, Nicola Coughlan who plays Lady Whistledown and Penelope Featherington shared that she had a costume fitting last February 12 and two days later shared that season two is in the works.
Bridgerton Season 2 is one of the most highly-anticipated series from Netflix. Fans are already excited about Anthony’s love story after it was revealed in the first season that it was his time to settle down after Daphne has found her one true love.
