Meghan Markle poured her heart out to Oprah Winfrey during a sit-down interview on Sunday, March 7. She couldn’t help but share a painful moment with Kate Middleton during the long-awaited interview.

Many royal fans tuned in to the highly anticipated show by CBS where Meghan and Prince Harry had their first sit-down interview after stepping down from their royal duties and starting a new life in the United States. The Suits alum talked to Oprah about her relationship with the Duchess of Cambridge. She said that Kate Middleton made her cry a few days before she and Harry tied the knot in May 2018.
The Duchess of Sussex said, “A few days before the wedding, she was upset about something pertaining—yes, the issue was correct—about flower girl dresses, and it made me cry, and it really hurt my feelings. And I thought, in the context of everything else that was going on in those days leading to the wedding, that it didn’t make sense to not be just doing whatever—what everyone else was doing, which was trying to be supportive, knowing what was going on with my dad and what-not.”
She explained she had no intention to “be disparaging to anyone”. The week before the wedding had been really hard. Further, she mentioned that Kate did send her an apology gift. However, it took months before she was able to receive it.
Meghan said, “She was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologized. And she brought me flowers and a note, apologizing. And she did what I would do if I knew that I hurt someone, right, to just take accountability for it. What was shocking was—what was that, six, seven months after our wedding?”
However, she told the seasoned talk show host that Kate is a good person. She added that somehow the British press wants to find a hero and villain in each situation.
“I think so much of what I have seen play out is this idea of polarity, where if you love me, you don’t have to hate her,” Meghan said. “And if you love her, you don’t need to hate me.”
As reported earlier, Meghan Markle’s friends showed support amid bullying claims.
