Alex Rodriguez is really making it up to Jennifer Lopez as he visited her again in the Dominican Republic this weekend where the actress is presently filming her latest romcom, Shotgun Wedding.
The 45-yeear-old former MLB star took to Instagram to share a series of videos and photos of his visit at the tropical getaway where he spent the weekend to reunite with Lopez. The 51-year-old actress has been in the Dominican Republic for a while to film her new movie.
A source told PEOPLE, “He flew back to the Dominican Republic this weekend so he can spend a few more days with Jennifer.
In one of his Instagram posts, Rodriguez was playing golf on the island paradise and then on Sunday, he shared more photos from his trip.
The two sparked breakup rumors recently but they made it clear through their joint statement on March 13 that they’ve been “working through some things” in their relationship. In fact, they appeared happy during the inauguration in Washington D.C. in January where Lopez performed. However, sources told PEOPLE that they’ve been struggling.
A friend of Lopez told the outlet, “She’s been contemplating breaking up with Alex for six months.”
Meanwhile, Lopez confirmed through an interview on the cover story of Allure in February that they recently sought couples’ therapy saying, “I think it was really helpful for us in our relationship.” They had to cancel wedding plans after their first two ceremonies were cancelled due to the pandemic.
The couple got engaged in the Bahamas last March 2019 after a two-year relationship. They also spent time with their blended families during the pandemic. Lopez has twins Emme and Max, 13, whom she shares with ex-husband March Anthony while Rodriguez has two daughters with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis namely Natasha, 16, and Ella, 12.
Last weekend, Rodriguez flew to the Dominican Republic to reunite with the actress. An insider told PEOPLE that Lopez was excited to see him in person and that they’re trying their best to figure things out. The source added that it was a happy reunion for the couple.
Rodriguez is expected to fly back to Miami in April once the Major League Baseball kicks off. Presently, the retired athlete is an analyst on Sunday Night Baseball of ESPN.
As previously reported, Bella Thorne and Benjamin Mascolo are engaged.
