Chrissy Teigen has left Twitter.
The TV host and cookbook author announced on Wednesday, March 24, that she will no longer use the site. Based on her last tweet, she explained that the “fear of pissing people off” has turned her into “a different human than I started out here as.”
The 35-year-old celebrity has been a target of many online trolls for years now. Some of them have spread conspiracy theories regarding her and her family and though she likes to sound funny on her tweets, she explained that she’s “sensitive” and doesn’t know yet “how to block out the negativity.”
Based on an Instagram post on Thursday, March 25, the Cravings author discussed in detail the reason behind her action. She wrote, “The platform no longer serves me as positively as it does negatively, so with that I bid you adieu. But I want to say that this is absolutely NOT twitter’s fault – I believe they do all they can to combat relentless bullying, any honestly, it’s not the bullying!! You guys have no idea how much they’ve reached out and worked with my team and me personally. It’s not the platform. It’s not the ‘bullying.'”
She also confirmed that it’s not the trolls either that caused her to leave the social media platform though she claimed that it “weighs on you.”
She added, “It’s just me. I have to come to terms with the fact some people aren’t gonna like me. I hate letting people down or upsetting people and I feel like I just did it over and over and over. Someone can’t read that they disappointed you in some way every single day, all day without physically absorbing that energy. I can feel it in my bones.”
Meanwhile, Chrissy’s comment section was flooded with support from fans, friends, celebrities, and more. Journalist Ronan Farrow commented, “It’s a psychologically damaging place and I’m glad you’re talking about it.”
Selling Sunset actress Chrishell Stause wrote, “You will be missed.”
Bobby Berk of Queer Eye said, “I don’t blame you love.”
This isn’t the first time that Chrissy took a time off from social media as she’s fully aware of how people would bombard her with love and support and the next thing she knew, she’s being bashed by trolls. If you’re fond of Chrissy’s tweets, unfortunately you won’t be seeing her on Twitter anymore.
