Sofia Richie has found new love and daddy approves!
The model confirmed her romance on Instagram with music executive Elliot Grainge on April 8 by posting sweet photos of the two of them and added a heart for the caption. Elliot is the son of Lucian Grainge, CEO of Universal Music Group.
So how does her dad, American Idol judge and singer Lionel Richie feel about this new relationship? Well, he definitely approves of her new romance.
A source told E! News, “Sofia and Elliot have known each other for years but just recently became romantic. They weren’t close growing up but Lionel has been friends with Elliot’s father and has worked with him for years.” The insider added that Lionel “completely adores” Elliot and gives his stamp of approval.
The source added, “He thinks they are a perfect match and it was very natural progression for Sofia and Elliot to get together. They are all family friends and Sofia and Elliot [started] hanging out more recently this year. She thinks he’s hilarious and loves that he is a chill guy.”
The insider also revealed that although the couple’s relationship is still new, the model is very interested in the executive and sees herself getting serious with him adding, “It’s going well. They are very happy and in the honeymoon phase.”
Sofia was in a relationship for three years with the Keeping Up With the Kardashians reality star, Scott Disick before they put an end into their romance in the summer of 2020. Based on the KUWTK March premiere, Scott said that the reason why he and Sofia split was because she started feeling uncomfortable with his closeness with Kourtney Kardashian whom he shared three children with.
He added that Sofia even gave him an ultimatum where she asked him to choose between her and Kourtney.
Another source told E! News during that time, “Sofia is not surprised that Scott shared their relationship issues with the Kardashian family and publicly on the show. She wished it stayed private but knew it would happen when they split. Sofia has moved on and put the drama behind her. At this point, there is no chance they will ever get back together.”
