Jennifer Lopez has received love and support from family and friends following her split from Alex Rodriguez.
A source told PEOPLE that the 51-year-old celebrity is in a good place after the split as she continues to film her latest movie, Shotgun Wedding, in the Dominican Republic.
Further, the source revealed that JLo has leaned on her twins, Emme and Max, and ex-husband Marc Anthony. “Jennifer is doing well. She is still filming in the Dominican Republic. The kids have visited her and they make her the happiest. Jennifer and Marc Anthony have a great relationship. Having Marc around while she has had to work abroad has been very comforting for Jennifer,” the insider said.
Lopez and Anthony have been co-parenting their 13-year-old twins since they broke up in 2011 after an eight-year marriage. According to several sources, Lopez decided to end it with A-Rod after being engaged for two years because she couldn’t trust him anymore.
A friend of Lopez also told PEOPLE, “She insisted on it. There are too many issues that are unresolved. She has been pretty miserable and didn’t think it was in her best interests to stay with Alex.”
Breaking their engagement and eventually putting an end to their relationship was a tough decision to make for the former couple. They’ve become very close to each other’s children and have joint business ventures as well. They’ve been dealing with relationship issues for a while and they’ve been assuring everybody that they’ll work things out. However, it didn’t work for the two of them.
“They both liked spending more time together as a family, but it was difficult to keep that special spark when they saw each other every day,” another source told PEOPLE.
However, they both made it clear that infidelity wasn’t the cause of their split but another insider put in, “she won’t tolerate the fear of it in the air between them.”
There were rumors of a third party but Lopez and Rodriguez shut them down. In fact, A-Rod flew to the Dominican Republic a few weeks ago to spend time with Lopez and try to fix their relationship. Sadly, it’s the end of the road for the two of them.
