Riverdale’s KJ Apa and girlfriend Clara Berry are expecting their first child together!
On Wednesday, May 19, the couple announced that they’re pregnant through a series of photos of Clara’s baby bump taken by Hart Denton.
The 23-year-old actor confirmed by writing the caption, “She’s pregnant btw”, together with a child and cooking eggs emojis. The 27-year-old model commented by writing “We are ♥️.”
KJ is the second among the Riverdale cast to welcome a baby while filming. In January, Vanessa Morgan and Michael Kopech welcomed their son River.
The 29-year-old actress left a comment on KJ’s post by writing, “Rivers soon to be bestie ♥️.”
Meanwhile, the official Archie Comics Instagram account also expressed their love to the couple by writing, “Congratulations to you both!!”
KJ and Clara first went public with their relationship in February last year. They sparked romance rumors in December 2019 after they were caught flirting on social media. The actor eventually revealed in an interview with Wired that he was in love. When they became Instagram official on Valentine’s Day, he wrote in French “coup de foudre” which translates to “love at first sight”.
KJ was first linked to Britt Robertson who was his co-star in A Dog’s Purpose and I Still Believe after they were seen packing on the PDA in June 2019 at a Comic-Con party in San Diego.
He became a household name after landing the lead part as Archie Andrews on Riverdale at the age of 18.
He told Interview magazine, “I’m so grateful for the show and its success, but at the same time, there’s a lot of baggage that comes with that success. I feel like the only people I can talk to about my issues are my costars, the people who can really relate to me.”
He added, “I try and look at it from a fan’s perspective to understand the way they think. But there are times when I’m like, ‘Wow, they really have no idea that we are actual people. They can’t separate us from our characters.’”
KJ concluded, “Every time I get a hiatus, it’s like, ‘Do I shoot a movie or do I spend time with my family?’ When I’m older, I want to be able to be proud of the decisions that I’ve made now.”
