Fans of Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani can’t wait for the couple to tie the knot after dating for five years. The long wait will be over soon and to keep fans even more excited about their big day, the groom-to-be revealed the latest detail regarding their wedding.
The couple became engaged in October last year and while they’re both very hush-hush about some details on their highly anticipated union, the “God’s Country” musician shared a major detail on their wedding reception. Blake appeared virtually during The Tonight’s Show with Jimmy Fallon where the host asked him which song they’re going to dance to first as husband and wife.
At first, the singer teased, “I think it’s called the ‘Wedding March'” to which Fallon laughed and said “Not that song, not the procession. No, no, I want at the reception, you come out of a fog machine…and they’re like, ‘Here is Mr. and Mrs. Blake Shelton! And now time for the couple’s first dance.’ And then, what do we hear?”
Blake didn’t hesitate and took out his phone to check the actual title of the song and replied, “It’s ‘If You Leave’ from the Pretty in Pink soundtrack.” The song was performed by the Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark.
Jimmy didn’t believe him immediately saying, “That’s not true at all.”
But it was indeed the truth and to prove he wasn’t lying, he showed his phone to the camera and told the host, “I swear, I have it right here. We talked about this, we both love the song, we’re both fans of the ’80s, why not?”
So when exactly does the musical couple plan to tie the knot? It seems fans didn’t have to wait long because despite not telling the exact date, Blake told Hoda Kotb of Today’s that they’re planning to do it this summer. But then the country star explained, “With COVID, it looks like it may be OK, but I don’t know.”
Blake and Gwen already have their guest list which includes Adam Levine and Miley Cyrus who’ll probably be performing on their highly anticipated day. Meanwhile, Gwen already asked talk show host Ellen DeGeneres to serve as her maid of honor. It’s going to be a star-studded event, indeed!
