Britney Spears is surrounded with love from her celebrity friends who offered their support for the pop icon after sharing her views on her conservatorship which has been the talk of the town for several months.
On Wednesday, June 23, Britney spoke to the court and asked the judge for the termination of her conservatorship which she referred to as “abusive”. Based on a transcript of her testimony, she said, “This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good.”
“I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized,” she added. “I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry it’s insane, and I’m depressed.”
She also detailed her frustrations about being controlled by her dad, Jamie Spears, who took over her personal life from who she should be friends with to her ability to reproduce. According to her, the treatment she faces is both embarrassing and demoralizing.
Now that her voice is finally heard, many of her celebrity pals, including her ex, Justin Timberlake, who twitted, “After what we saw today, we should all be supporting Britney at this time. Regardless of our past, good and bad, and no matter how long ago it was… what’s happening to her is just not right. No woman should ever be restricted from making decisions about her own body. No one should EVER be held against their will… or ever have to ask permission to access everything they’ve worked so hard for. Jess and I send our love, and our absolute support to Britney during this time. We hope the courts, and her family make this right and let her live however she wants to live.”
Mariah Carey also took to Twitter to write, “We love you Britney!!! Stay strong.” Halsey also shared on Twitter, “Bless Britney and I hope with my whole heart she is awarded freedom from this abusive system. She deserves it more than anything. I admire her courage speaking up for herself today.”
On the other hand, KeKe Palmer posted on Instagram, “All of them need to go to jail!!!!! My girl was finally able to speak up against her conservatorship after they tried to make her fear damaging her “image” just to keep her quiet! How cruel to do that to someone that has only known performing their whole life. Then to contort the very thing she loved by making her do it on YOUR time. Money is the great root of all evil! But the light will always win, I’m so happy that Britney was able to tell the truth today and I’m ready to raise hell! And to add, she is VERY strong and brave. To hear her speak the way she did even after all of this I’m just so glad. They could not break her!!! That’s a testimony.”
