The couple tied the knot on July 3 after dating for more than five years. They first met on the set of The Voice where they served as coaches. They had their very intimate wedding at the country singer’s ranch surrounded by their loved ones.
Gwen wore a custom white wedding gown by designer Vera Wang and the overall setting was absolutely breathtaking. But what makes it extra special is the wedding cake which was definitely more than just a dessert and decoration on their big day.
The majestic cake has five tiers made of vanilla crème and filled with salted caramel. It was then covered with vanilla buttercream and a cake toper resembling the couple completed the whole cake. The whole cake was adorned with masterful piping with every detail in place. The best part? The cake was actually inspired by the wedding cake of Gwen’s parents, Dennis and Patti Stefani.
Lauren Kitchens, founder of Fancy Cakes by Lauren Kitchens, told E! News, “Gwen and I designed this cake to look like her parent’s wedding cake. Her love of family is strong and this was her way of honoring them and their beginning as a new married couple on her big day as a newly married bride. Everything about the cake had sentimental value.”
The cake has a very detailed design. She added, “This cake had all the vintage bells and whistles! From swan pillars, tiny sugar flowers, wedding bells and white chocolate cherubs. The wow factor is in the piping details.”
Kitchens explained that the whole style was also inspired by Lambeth cake design, an old English style of piping. She said, “It’s layer upon layer of intricate icing details piped onto the tiers freehand. It’s become a lost art in cake design that’s slowly coming back to American weddings.”
She added, “I bet Gwen and Blake have just made the Lambeth cake come back full force. Cake designers all over the country will need to dust off their piping tips and get busy.”
