Jennifer Lawrence is expecting her first child with her husband Cooke Maroney.
A representative of the 31-year-old actress confirmed to People on Wednesday, September 8, the good news. This didn’t come as a surprise as made it clear that she wanted to have children. She told Glamour, “I imagine I’ll have children, and then my whole life will just seem complete.”
Jennifer and Cooke got married in October 2019 in Rhode Island, specifically in the luxurious Belcourt of Newport. Her wedding reception only had 150 guests including Adele, Kris Jenner, Amy Schumer, Emma Stone, and Ashley Olsen among others. It was a solemn and private wedding ceremony and if there’s one thing she regretted about it, it was her Bachelorette party.
She shared at the time, “I had a major sleepover at my apartment, but I will say I regret not planning a big one. My friend was getting married close to me, and I went to her Bachelorette, and then we ended up—typical Leo—we called it my Bachelorette.”
In addition to her big news, she also has other reasons to celebrate. For instance, the first trailer for her new film, Don’t Look Up, was released this week. The star-studded Netflix sci-fi comedy film includes Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Cate Blanchett. The highly anticipated film is directed by Adam McKay.
The Hunger Games actress used to date director Darren Aronofsky but they parted ways in late 2017. After a year, she started seeing Cooke. The New York City-based art gallerist proposed to her in February 2019 and of course, she said yes, though the Oscar-winning actress mentioned not being sure if she would ever get married.
She had an interview with Catt Sadler in the NAKED podcast where the actress talked about her decision to make everything official with Cooke. She said, “We wanted to commit fully. And, you know, he’s my best friend. I feel very honored to become a Maroney.”
The couple has many things in common including their love for arts and culture. And just like what Jennifer told Entertainment Tonight in June 2019 about her then-fiancé, “Well, he’s just the best person I’ve ever met in my whole life. It was a very, very easy decision.”
