When Kim Kardashian showed up at the 2021 Met Gala, to say that people were shocked was an understatement.
Her all-black outfit complete with a face-covering made heads turn, sparked new memes, and created a controversy in the fashion world. It was definitely one of the most unforgettable Met Gala outfits ever worn by a celebrity.
During her entrance, she was accompanied by someone in all black and with a face cover, too, which at first sparked rumors that the person was none other than the rapper Kanye West. As it turned out, the Grammy winner didn’t make a surprise appearance at this year’s gala.
To show his support to his estranged wife, the Donda rapper took to Instagram to share two photos of Kim wearing her controversial Met Gala outfit last September 13. He didn’t write any message but only added a goat emoji to his post.
Many left their comments on his post including reality TV personality Fonzworth Bentley. He wrote, ‘Look at what my kim did’ – @kanyewest.”
For those who still don’t know, Kanye only follows 52 Instagram accounts and that includes Fonzworth’s page. However, he doesn’t follow Kim’s Insta anymore. The 40-year-old SKIMS founder shares four children with Kanye. She filed for divorce from the rapper in February this year.
One fan took notice about his not following Kim on Instagram and commented, “Kanye really the typa dude to post pictures of his wife but not follow her on Instagram.”
Kim also shared to her Instagram Story several Met Gala-related messages, including some memes generated by her out-of-this-world outfit. Further, she offered her take on a viral pic from the event that showed her younger sister, Kendall Jenner, seemingly trying to catch her attention.
According to Kim, “Kendall was calling my name and I couldn’t see who it was but I saw the outline of her sparkly dress.” She added a sobbing emoji to her post.
Kim’s all-black ensemble was designed by Balenciaga’s creative director, Demna Gvasalia. Many were wondering if she had any make-up on underneath her face covering. Mario Dedivanovic, Kim’s makeup artist, revealed on social media that the reality star had full makeup. She eventually removed the covering and switched into an outfit that resembled Batgirl.
