The special night was appropriately named “Britney Night” and every pair performed to a different song by the famous singer. This is also a way for the show to celebrate the 39-year-old’s recent victory in line with her conservatorship battle and to honor her fans who took part in the #FreeBritney movement which became instrumental to her way to freedom.
Among the contestants, none can relate to Britney than JoJo Siwa who shared during the pre-recorded segment, “I love Britney. Britney is a legend. An icon. A ball of talent and glitter and energy. She is a genius. She just has a way of being herself, almost like nobody else does.”
According to the 18-year-old Dance Moms alum, she relates to the singer “on a lot of different levels”. That’s because they started in the entertainment industry at very young ages especially in the field of music and film. JoJo and her dance partner Jenna Johnson danced the tango to the hit song, “…Baby One More Time”.
JoJo shared, “I think I’ve had a really great support system around me, but being a child star is hard. I was always homeschooled, and so I never had a person bullying, like it wasn’t a thing for me. One night, I went to a Halloween theme park. People were shouting at me, ‘JoJo Siwa, ‘F’ you.'”
She added, “No 14-year-old wants to hear that. Every time that I go through something, it reminds me of the other side, of what’s good.”- Advertisement -
Britney’s conservatorship started in 2008 but it wasn’t until last February when the FX’s documentary Framing Britney Spears was launched that the public became more aware of her situation, specifically her conservatorship battle against her father Jamie Spears who served as her co-conservator.
Based on the latest hearing on September 29, the court suspended Jamie Spears as conservator of her estate. She tweeted, “#FreeBritney movement … I have no words … because of you guys and your constant resilience in freeing me from my conservatorship … my life is now in that direction !!!!”
