Kris Jenner opened up to Ryan Seacrest during the On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Wednesday, September 9 about the family’s decision to end their long-running reality TV show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, in 2021.
The famous momager told Seacrest, who is also the creator of KUWTK, that he will make her cry all over again as the news hasn’t sunk in yet. She said, “It’s funny, when we talked yesterday, I kinda had my wits about me and I thought I was really strong. And, you know, this is the right decision. Today I wake up and I was thinking about the first time you and I ever did an interview on the air, and I was so excited and so nervous.”
Kris said the memory was very emotional for her. Seacrest serves as the show’s creator and executive producer at the same time. The docu-series stars Kris Jenner together with her children, Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Rob Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and Kylie Jenner. Kourtney’s ex, Scott Disick is also in the show.
According to Kris, they’re still processing their decision. She said, “I woke up and was in the gym at 5 o’clock with Khloé and Kim and we just kind of sat there and looked at each other and said, ‘Whoa, what a ride.’ It was quite the morning.”
She and her family are grateful for all the moments in the show and referred to KUWTK as the best home movies that they’ll ever be able to produce. But why end the show? She answered that it was the right time to do so.
The matriarch explained that 20 sounded good until 2020 but for her, the number is the right time. She explained, “I think for us to take a minute and breathe and everybody slow down a bit. Not slow down professionally, but just you know figure out what our next steps are.”
While KUWTK will end in 2021, Khloe is taking the decision the hardest. Kris said when they told the crew, everybody was crying especially Khloe who couldn’t stop crying since the announcement. She added that her daughter is sweet and emotional about it. The decision was very hard and emotional to the family. By the time their last season will air in 2021, the Kardashian-Jenners will celebrate their 14 years on air.
