Little Mix members Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock announced that their group will be taking a break following their upcoming tour for their sixth album, Confetti.
Based on a statement issued by their group’s social media accounts, they said, “We wanted to let you all know that after the Confetti tour in April/May next year we are going to be taking a break from Little Mix.”
“It’s been 10 amazing years, a wonderful non-stop adventure, and we feel the time is right to take a break so we can recharge and work on some other projects. We can’t thank you enough for your love and never-ending support since the beginning. We love you all SO much.”
However, they assured fans that this isn’t the end for them, saying, “We are not splitting up—Little Mix are here to stay.”
They added, “We have plans for more music, tours and performances in the future. We’ve made so many incredible memories with you all, and we can’t wait to make so many more.”
The three members who refer to each other as sister concluded their statement by stating that “we’ll always have each other and you, the fans, in our lives.”
“Little Mix is forever. See you on tour!”
The news came almost a year after the group announced that Jesy Nelson will be leaving them. Jesy had been with Little Mix since 2011 during U.K.’s The X Factor. In December last year, she explained that mental health is one of the reasons why she decided to leave. According to her, it was hard dealing with the constant pressure of being in a girl group and ensuring you live up to expectations.
She explained, “There comes a time in life when we need to reinvest in taking care of ourselves rather than focusing on making other people happy, and I feel like now is the time to begin that process. So after much consideration and with a heavy heart, I’m announcing I’m leaving Little Mix.”
Confetti was the group’s last album with Jesy in the lineup and they also released the album, Between Us, last month. As for the other members, Leigh-Anne and Perrie became mothers this year.
