Taylor Swift announced on Sunday, September 13, that she’ll be performing at the 2020 ACM Awards on Wednesday, September 16.
She posted on Twitter, “Bout to show up at your party @ACMawards.” Meanwhile, her promotional video had a caption that stated that she’s taking the ACM stage again after seven years and she will also premiere her song, ‘betty’.

This will be the first time that the multi-awarded singer will perform her hit song which is included in her eight studio album which she surprise-dropped last July. She explained a few weeks later that “betty” relates to the kids of her friends. She introduced the song on a radio station and revealed that she wrote the lyrics from a 17-year-old’s perspective that lost someone he loves.
The songstress shared that music lets her slip into different identities and allows her to sing from other’s perspectives. That’s exactly what she did on this song. She added that she named the characters after her friends’ children.

She never revealed who among her friends but her fans speculated she talked about Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ kids. She crooned over monikers James and Inez who are the couple’s eldest daughters. And while the couple never revealed the name of their third child, Swifties believed that Taylor just did base on the song’s title, “Betty”.
Taylor Swift last performed in ACM in 2013 when she performed with Tim McGraw and Keith Urban. After which, Taylor transitioned into making pop music. It’s still unclear why it took her seven years to return to the ACM stage.
Fans are already excited about her comeback performance but another reason why everybody’s buzzing about the ACM is the fact that this year Keith Urban will be hosting the awards show on Wednesday.
Keith actually revealed he’s hosting the show in February when he talked about his new song. The ACM Awards was set in April but was postponed due to the pandemic. He referred to this year as his most creative and energized year of his life. He added he was incredibly grateful and ready to roll.
There are many country singers who’ll be performing including Miranda Lambert, Kane Brown, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, and more.
Just like with other award shows, the ACM will be doing it differently this year as well because of the coronavirus. For the first time ever, it will be held in Nashville and will be broadcast from Grand Ole Opry House, the Bluebird Café, and the Ryman Auditorium.
Don’t forget to watch this year’s star-studded event on September 16 at 8 p.m. EST via CBS.
