The Grammy winner never shared too many details about her divorce from Brandon Blackstock but she did share what the process was like. The two were married for almost seven years and have two kids together namely River Rose, 4, and Remington Alexander, 4. She was also a stepmom to Brandon’s children from his ex-wife, 18-year-old Savanna and 13-year-old Seth.
In June, Kelly filed for divorce. It was a shock especially to their friends and colleagues who never suspected anything negative between the former couple. It was also bad for their children. They were a loving family and there was never any issues going on between them.
During her virtual video call with Geist, she admitted that it’s no secret and that her life has been a bit of a dumpster. She said that the last two months have been a little hard. According to her, she’s been talking to friends who experienced going through a divorce. She doesn’t know how people go through it without an outlet because for her, it is the worst thing ever.
Last week, Kelly opened up about her divorce and why she doesn’t want to provide all the details. Based on an interview with Los Angeles Times, she said that she’s a very open person but she won’t be able to truly open about this because there are children involved.
“There are a lot of little hearts involved in this and while people feel, ‘Oh my gosh, what a loss …’ imagine how it is in the epicenter of the storm. It’s a lot to process and deal with, just as a family. So because it’s not just me, I probably won’t go too deep with it.”
According to the Grammy winner, when she’s ready to share this part of her life publicly, she will do so.- Advertisement -
“I think that I will navigate a way in which to be open and honest about it eventually, probably via the show, and it’ll probably, I’m assuming, happen organically when someone says something in conversation or something. It definitely wouldn’t be planned,” she explained.
In the meantime, fans will have to respect Kelly Clarkson’s decision to keep her divorce private.
