Billie Lourd made sure that her mom’s (Carrie Fisher) force and legacy is felt throughout her special day when she married producer Austen Rydell. From her wedding gown, shoes, jewellery, to glitters, Lourd made sure that everything she wore, as well as the props and attendees, will have a bit of Carrie Fisher in it.
According to a Vogue profile, the 29-year-old American actress, she wanted to include and pay tribute to her late mother on the day when she finally tie the knot. She wore an off-shoulder custom-cut wedding gown speckled with sparkly sequins designed by Kate and Laura Mulleavy, designers from Rodarte.
Lourd added that she discovered the two designers after seeing Fisher being interviewed by them. She remarked that she felt that they were the first and perfect designers to design her bridal gown.
The Scream Queens star also wore a René Mancini shoe that her father, Bryan Lourd, gave to her as a gift. According to her, the shoes caught his attention because it bears a similar design to the shoes that her mom used to wear during the ’90s. Lourd explained that he could not be more wrong after the manager explained that Fisher used to frequent the boutique back in her days. She further added that it felt like serendipity.
As for the jewel and something blue, Lourd wore Fisher’s fire opal ring.
The ceremony was attended by some of Fisher’s close friends, especially renowned Star Wars icons and Fisher’s best friends, Gavin DeBecker and Bruce Wagner. DeBecker and Wagner posed as the officiants and Lourd remarked that it was probably the brilliant, touching, and hysterical officiating in history.
At the end of the ceremony, everybody threw glitters in a very Carrie Fisher way. The American Horror Story alum considered the intimate ceremony as very magical and that she could not have dreamed of a more perfect wedding. Fisher died in December 2016, after experiencing a heart attack during her flight to London. Since then, Lourd has been opening up about her grief. She added that when her mother was alive, she was her best friend and her everything. Now, the newlywed mother aims to keep Fisher’s legacy and memory alive for her son, Kingston Fisher Lourd Rydell.
