There’s no stopping Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz from moving forward with their divorce.
Based on the divorce petition obtained by PEOPLE, the 35-year-old Vanderpump Rules star cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind their split.
Maloney filed the documents on Tuesday in the Los Angeles Superior Court. The papers revealed they separated last February 12, a month before they took to Instagram to announce their split.
The actress also requested no spousal support for either of them though they’ll still determine how they’ll split their property and assets.
On March 15, the costars took to their respective Instagram accounts to announce their split.
Maloney wrote, “I never thought I would have to make an announcement like this. But I feel it’s important that I’m open about my life with you. After 12 years on an adventure through life together Tom and I are ending our marriage. This ending is not met with resentment or animosity, no sides to choose. We have deep admiration for one another that will always remain and we cherish our friendship.”
“Although we may be on different paths we will continue to love and support one another’s happiness. Thank you for all the kind words and support,” Maloney concluded.
On the other hand, Schwartz, 39, also made the announcement through a heartfelt message on his Instagram. He wrote, “Well this sucks. How am I supposed to capture 12 years of love in a f– canned Instagram caption. I’m not quite ready to use the ‘D’ word bc it’s too painful. Yes my heart aches but I’ll be ok.
He continued, “Fully respect Katie’s decision and we’ve had healthy, productive conversations about it. It would be far sadder if she decided to stay with me whilst not happy, we had some of the most blissful, romantic, fun times humanly possible over the course of our relationship.” He also added how Maloney has taught him about love and being a better partner.
Following their announcement, TMZ obtained photos showing the former couple spending some time together and dining at Mister O’s in Studio City, California.
Maloney and Schwartz spent 12 years together before announcing their split. They tied the knot in 2016 but it wasn’t until 2019 that they filed their official paperwork.
As reported earlier, Olivia Rodrigo and Adam Faze had split after seven months of dating.
