The Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum told Robin Roberts during the ABC News’ special on the famous family’s upcoming Hulu series, The Kardashians, “I’m really open and honest with them.”
“The younger ones don’t understand as much, but as far as with my two older ones, they know what’s going on.”
Kim also shares Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 2, with the rapper. She explained that her goal is to “be there for them no matter what, even in this crazy life that we live.”
Meanwhile, screenshots of Kanye’s since-deleted Instagram posts and clips from his “Eazy” music videos where he mocked Pete Davidson, Kim’s boyfriend, were flashed on the screen at the beginning of the primetime special.
Roberts, 61, asked Kim, “Was it difficult because of how Kanye became so public? How have you been able to navigate that?”
The 41-year-old answered, “You want to take the high road, and sometimes it’s hard. But I think that, at the end of the day, everyone has their own way of communicating.”
She added, “I’ve always been, like, a champion of him speaking his truth and I would always want that.”
The 44-year-old Donda artist attacked Kim, her family, and her 28-year-old boyfriend publicly in recent months. He even pretended to bury the SNL host alive to his song’s lyrics: “God saved me from that crash / Just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s ass.”
His actions led to his Instagram account’s suspension for 24 hours and his performance was later pulled from the 2022 Grammys.
As for their divorce, Kim told Roberts, “Kanye and I have had conversations, we have to talk daily for the kids. So, you know, I hate that it had to play out like that, but when it comes to family, I mean, Kanye and I will always be family.”
She added, “At the end of the day, I just want my kids to be happy and healthy and think the world of their dad, and they do.”
In March, Kim was declared legally single. She filed for divorce from estranged husband in February 2021 and started dating Pete in October last year.
