When Austin Butler was still dating Vanessa Hudgens, the actor was very private about their relationship and seldom talked about it.
However, the Elvis star got candid about his romance with the High School Musical alum which lasted for almost nine years. He told GQ Hype, “Life is full of changes and you’ve got to find a way to constantly be evolving and growing.”
The former couple started dating in 2011. He told E! News during the premiere of Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood in 2019, “It’s hard for me to even put into words how much that girl means to me. I’m so inspired by her every day and just love her to my core.”
However, many fans were shocked when they split in January 2020 after years of togetherness. Neither Butler nor Hudgens shared publicly their reasons for breaking up though a source told E! News then that the distance between them and their different work schedule have been keeping them apart. Back then, Butler was preparing to film Elvis while she was working on The Princess Switch: Switched Again.
The insider explained, “They’re just shooting on two different continents and it’s a matter of distance.”

On the other hand, Butler is now seeing model Kaia Gerber. They’ve been photographed together for several times. However, the Elvis star said he doesn’t pay attention the pics taken by paparazzi. He told GQ Hype, “I go, ‘If I don’t see the picture, then it doesn’t really exist to me. I don’t want to be really negative, but there’s hardly any job I despise more than paparazzi.”
The couple made their red carpet debut earlier this month at the 2022 Met Gala. However, he’s still private about his latest romance, telling the outlet, “I don’t think there’s anything I want to share about that. But thank you for providing the space.”
