Demi Lovato and Max Ehrich called off their engagement last week after four months of having their whirlwind romance. On Sunday, September 27, Ehrich took to his Instagram Stories to post about how their break up unfolded.
According to The Path actor, he was on the set of his new movie, Southern Gospel, together with the cast and crew who were next to him and watched him open his phone where he opened a tabloid.
The 29-year-old star went on to say that it was how he found out about the ending of their engagement. He said that the people on the set who saw how the whole thing went down helped him in continuing his job and got him back into the character he was portraying.
He explained that he has cast and crew who have families that rely on him to do his job. He also mentioned ending this narrative and trying to focus on issues that are more important in the world right now. He concluded by saying to let them be and let them heal and ended his message with “God bless”.
A day before, Ehrich said that he found out about their breakup through the media. His Instagram Stories on September 26 said, “Imagine finding out to [sic] the status of your relationship through a tabloid. While your [sic] in the middle of filming a biopic movie about a Pastor in a Christian Church whose intention of the film is to help people.” In another post, he said, “Jesus loves you.”
However, a source told E! News that he was lying. According to the insider, Lovato told him beforehand and that he is only trying to stay relevant. Also, her family was relieved that she took this step because they think Ehrich is crazy.
Another insider shared the same opinion last week saying that the couple was arguing a lot. There was tension between them and she didn’t know Ehrich that well. She’d been ignoring a lot of red flags and turned a blind eye on them, too.
The insider added that Lovato’s mom, Diana De La Garza, and her close friends had been warning her about Ehrich and wanted her out of their relationship sooner.
Demi Lovato deleted her Instagram post and she’s yet to comment publicly about their breakup.
