Johnny Depp is on a roll!
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor recently resigned his contract with Dior, amounting to a whopping “seven figure.” A source informed E! News that the famous French luxury brand “has re-upped their contract” with the 59-year-old actor and he’ll continue as the face of Sauvage, fragrance for men.
The brand shared on Instagram photos and videos of the actor, who recently emerged victorious on his defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard, to prove that their relationship is stronger than ever. The photos were taken by Greg Williams backstage during one of his concerts in Paris. Dior captioned it, “Fearless yet human. Just like Sauvage.”
There’s also another clip of Depp as he stepped out onto the stage with his guitar and with the audience screaming as he says, “Sauvage brings me a lot of memories, a lot of shows.”
“Things that you smelled growing up that if I smell it, it takes me right back and I see the person that used to wear it. It’s a sense memory, so a smell can make you travel,” he added.
Depp first became the face of Dior’s Sauvage in 2015. The fragrance became a best-seller on Sephora and Ulta websites during his defamation trial as reported by the Wall Street Journal in June.
On June 1, Depp won in the defamation trial against heard after a jury found the Aquaman star liable of defaming him. She wrote an op-ed in 2018 which was published in Washington Post where she referred to herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”
The jury awarded the actor $10.4 million in damages while Heard was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages after filing a $100 million countersuit against her ex-husband for an alleged “online smear campaign.” A month later, they both filed motions to appeal the verdicts awarded to them.
Meanwhile, Depp flew to the U.K. after the trial and performed with musician Jeff Beck in various parts of Europe. The actor also announced his new album with the musician and his decision to join his Hollywood Vampires bandmates, which include Joe Perry, Alice Cooper, and Tommy Henriksen. The group will have their overseas tour starting next year.
