Selena Gomez received criticisms from an answer to a recent interview.
In an interview with Rolling Stone published on November 3, the singer discussed about her friendships within the music industry. According to her, “I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities. My only friend in the industry really is Taylor Swift, so I remember feeling like I didn’t belong. I felt the presence of everyone around me living full lives. I had this position, and I was really happy, but … was I? Do these materialistic things make me happy? I just didn’t like who I was, because I didn’t know who I was.”
The quote was shared on Instagram and Francia wrote in a since-deleted comment, “interesting.” She was the one who donated her kidney to Selena and many were wondering why she wasn’t even mentioned in the star’s documentary, My Mind & Me. The possible drama between the two friends was discussed on TikTok and Selena commented, “Sorry I didn’t mention every person I know.” Fans also noticed that the 34-year-old unfollowed Selena after she released her documentary.
Many shared their comments regarding the matter with one follower saying, “I honestly feel like this whole thing was just taken out of proportion and Selena meant the music industry which Francia isn’t part of.”
“she might genuinely not think of Francia as an ‘industry friend’ but more as a sister, that was my first thought!” commented another.
Another wrote, “Francia saved her life! She should’ve at least acknowledged her on the documentary!!!!!”
“Note to self – ‘never give a friend your kidney bc they might just refer to u after as ‘every person I know,’” another user wrote.
“If you gave someone a body part and they say their only friend is some one else I would take it personal,” wrote another.
Five years ago, the 30-year-old star shared she had kidney transplant and Francia was the donor. That time, she posted on Instagram, “She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”
Francia responded that time, “I am beyond grateful that God would trust me with something that not only saved a life, but changed mine in the process. This was part of our story, and we will share it soon, but what is important now is that this is not the only story.”
