Nicki Minaj welcomed her first child with husband Kenneth Petty on September 30 in Los Angeles.
The 37-year-old rapper and her 45-year-old husband haven’t revealed the gender of their baby or its name yet.
Minaj announced she was pregnant in July through a series of posts on Instagram. In the first post, she was seen wearing a bikini which showed off her baby bump from the side. She also hashtagged her post #Preggers” and added a heart emoji.
Fans were extremely happy for the singer who added more posts on her social media account. One of the photos she shared showed her holding her baby bump. Her third post included the lies, “Love. Marriage. Baby carriage. Overflowing with excitement & gratitude. Thank you all for the well wishes.”
Her pregnancy announcement came a few months after the rapper announced that she would be retiring but took back her words after.
She wrote on Twitter in September, “I’ve decided to retire & have my family”I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, (X) in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE.”
She also talked about her future plans in an interview with Billboard. She said, “I love music and interacting with fans, so I can’t really see taking myself completely away. But I want to be open to other possibilities in my life. I do believe it is important to become a woman outside of the magnifying glass. I have to make sure that I’m well-rounded as a human being.”
Minaj and Petty got married in October last year after dating for a year. She shared a video about the important moment in her life specifically a footage of matching mugs with “Mr. and Mrs.” and baseball caps with “Bride” and “Groom”. She also captioned the footage, “10.21.19”, referring to their wedding date.
The lovebirds dated from 2018 and became Instagram official in December of the same year. Their relationship became viral, especially after people found out that Petty is a Level 2 sex offender registered on New York State’s Sex Offender Registry.
