Rumer Willis and her boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas announced on Instagram on December 20 that they’re pregnant. They’ll welcome their first child together in 2023.
The couple shared the good news on social media by posting a photo of Derek kissing Rumer’s growing belly and captioned it with a seedling emoji. It didn’t take long before friends started congratulating the couple, including Dave Annable, Nicola Peltz Beckham, and Jenna Johnson.
Aaron Paul commented, “I’m so happy for you my friend. Such beautiful news. Congrats!!!”
Rumer’s family also showed their excitement online. Her mom, Demi Moore, shared her daughter’s Instagram pic and captioned it, “Entering my hot kooky unhinged grandma era.” Meanwhile, her sister Scout LaRue Willis piped in, “I feel so good. What a joyful hard launch party.”
Rumer made their relationship Instagram official in November. The actress posed with the Vista Kicks lead singer and even had her dog, Dolores, in some of their pics together.
Though she didn’t confirm their relationship until recently, it was different with Derek. He is more open about their romance and even shared a sweet tribute for her on her birthday last summer. He wrote on August 16, “In the short time we’ve been together you have filled my life with joy and peace. Everything is just so easy with you. We sing, we dance, we play and most of all we laugh. Thank you for being you. You’re a magical human. I’m so glad you came into my life.”
The couple didn’t share the sex of their baby yet but the actress shared previously what her father, Bruce Willis, hoped for her in case she’ll have children.
She joked on The Talk in November 2020, “My dad puts pressure on me. Over the quarantine, he was like, ‘So I’d like for you to have a son because I need some male energy in this group.’ It’s a lot of women obviously.”
That time, Rumer was still waiting for the right time to start a family. She said, “It’s important to wait. I think it’s so important not to rush in and have it be about the lust or about, you know, that immediate connection, and building a real foundation.”
