H&M has pulled out its Justin Bieber merch two days after the “Peaches” singer shared on his Instagram Stories that he didn’t approve the collection. He wrote on December 19, “I didn’t aprove [sic] any of the merch collection that they put up at H&M, all without my permission and approval SMH.”
In addition to informing his followers that he didn’t give the fashion brand the go signal to release the collection, he also urged his fans not to buy the said items. He said, “I wouldn’t buy it if I were you. The H&M merch they made of me is trash and I didn’t approve it don’t buy it.”
In line with the latest controversy, H&M is setting the record straight once and for all. The company issued a statement to E! News that read, “H&M has followed proper approval procedures. Out of respect for the collaboration and Justin Bieber, we have removed the garments from our stores and online.”
The Grammy winner has been vocal about the latest collection with H&M but it’s not the first time that the company have sold Justin Bieber merch. The tops sold by H&M included sweatshirts and graphic tees that every fan would love to have.
A year later, the company launched its collection of Justine Bieber Stadium Tour which the singer himself promoted that year on Twitter.
Further, H&M released a collection in 2020 which was inspired by Changes, his fifth studio album. The collection included an apparel with the “Love Yourself” singer’s name, his album title, and a cartoon version of himself.
In terms of the latest merch the singer has been referring to on social media, it’s the brand’s new collection featuring the artist on a shirt and sweatshirt, tote bag, and hoodies with the words “World Tour” and lyrics from his single, “Ghost.”
In addition to posting on his social media account, he also took to the comment section of a fan page that featured pics of the latest H&M collection on Instagram to write, “When everyone finds out I didn’t approve any of this merch smh.”
