Selena Gomez is so used to her critics, that having body-shamers criticize her after appearing in the 2023 Golden Globes didn’t surprise her anymore.

The singer and actress is known for being an advocate for body positivity. When she walked the red carpet at the recent award ceremony, she was bombarded with body-shaming comments online. The Only Murders in the Building star later took to Instagram Live with her little sister, Gracie Elliot Teefey, 9, and opened up about gaining weight, especially during the holiday.

Based on the video, which was reshared on TikTok, the 30-year-old star revealed, “I’m a little bit big right now because I enjoyed myself during the holidays.” Then, she turned to her little sister and asked, “Right?”

Gracie answered, “Yeah.” Selena laughed.

Selena was nominated for best performance by an actress in a television, comedy or musical at the Golden Globes for her portrayal of Mabel Mora in Only Murders in the Building in Hulu. For the event, she wore a strapless, plum velvet gown with puff sleeves and a long train from Valentino Fall 2022 collection.

This isn’t the first time she has fought back at body-shamers. In fact, she shared about being judged because of her appearance in April last year.

She shared on TikTok, “So I be trying to stay skinny, but I went to Jack in the Box and I got four tacos, three egg rolls, onion rings and a spicy chicken sandwich. But honestly, I don’t care about my weight because people bitch about it anyway: ‘You’re too small.’ ‘You’re too big.’ ‘That doesn’t fit.’ ‘Meh meh meh meh.'”

So what does she have to say to her critics? She said, “Bitch, I am perfect the way I am. Moral of the story? Bye.”

The “Lose You to Love Me” singer has been open about her relationship with social media. In fact, she even deleted some of the apps from her phone in 2019 because of the depressing negative comments she was receiving from users.

However, Selena has re-downloaded the social media apps and she’s been active on TikTok and Instagram.

In a recent post, she asked, “Wait can you tell I’m back on Instagram?” She also shared photos of her and her new BFF Nicola Peltz Beckham and her husband, Brooklyn Beckham.
