The pair called off their romantic relationship more than a year ago, but they’re committed to co-parenting their two-year-old daughter, Khai Hadid Malik. The supermodel told The Sunday Times that she’s been scheduling her work commitments whenever Khai’s with her father.

The 27-year-old mom said, “That she can be with both parents makes me very happy.”

The former couple called it quits in October 2021, a year after they had Khai. News of their breakup emerged amid the feud between Zayn and Gigi’s mom, Yolanda Hadid.

That time, a Pennsylvania police report was filed claiming that the former One Direction band member “grabbed and shoved” Yolanda “into a dresser causing mental anguish and physical pain.”

The 30-year-old denied the allegations. However, he was on probation and ordered to complete anger management classes after pleading no contest to four counts of harassment. Gigi didn’t publicly address the issue about her ex-boyfriend and her mom. However, it’s clear that she and Zayn have been in good terms after what happened. She even greeted him on Father’s Day.

There are many former celebrity couples who have been co-parenting their children. So, what’s their secret for co-parenting their daughter? The model shared with the outlet, “Just keeping the importance of the child’s happiness at the forefront. You have a long life alongside this person.”

She also talked about the “little bits” of British that their daughter got from the singer who’s from Bradford, United Kingdom.

She said, “She’s clearly a child who was grown in my stomach eating a lot of British food—breakfast, beans, curries. And she still eats like that. She even says some words with a little [English] accent, which I love.”

Gigi also discussed about the bond she has with her daughter. She explained, “She has already given me so much. I always wanted to be a mom, but I was never obsessive about it or [thought that] I was put on this Earth to be a mom. I’ve always been quite organized, so having Khai at the time that I did was a blessing. I’m so glad to be a young mom.”
