The outlet heard last month that this year’s Met Gala would be Kardashian-free after the whole Kardashian-Jenner family of reality stars attended the event last year. Sources said before that Anna Wintour, Vogue’s boss, was working on the guest list and no Kardashian was included.
But that changed after a source told the outlet that the SKIMS founder will be there. Not only that but the outlet also heard that there’s another famous family member who also made it to the guest list.
Last year, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian attended the event for the first time ever while Kris, Kendall, and Kylie Jenner have been to famous fashion event several times in the past, though not as regularly as their most popular fam member.
In 2013, Kim attended her first Met Gala with Kanye West while she was still pregnant with North. Since then, she’s been a regular at the event with her stunning outfits like the “wet” look by Thierry Mugler in 2019. That time, she learned special breathing techniques to fit into her outfit with the help of corsetier Mr. Pearl.
She also went viral in 2021 after wearing a Balenciaga black bodysuit that literally covered her from head to foot. Last year, she was also controversial after she wore Marilyn Monroe’s iconic Jean Louis gown which the actress wore in 1962 when she sang, “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” to John F. Kennedy.
Many believed she shouldn’t have been allowed to wear it to preserve the gown, including the one who sketched it and worked with Louis, fashion designer Bob Mackie. She was eventually accused of allegedly damaging the historic gown but according to Ripley’s Believe It or Not, which loaned her the dress, “Any time we felt that the dress was in danger of ripping or we felt uncomfortable about anything, we always had the ability to be able to say we not were going to continue with this.”
According to Kim, she lost 16 pounds in three weeks for her to fit into Marilyn’s gown. She also revealed she only wore it in the carpet before changing into a replica for the rest of the show.
Meanwhile, Kim hasn’t revealed yet the designer she’ll be attending with next month.
This year’s Met Gala will be held on May 1 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute with the theme is “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.”
