Adele was in a roll as she had her Saturday Night Live debut being a host for the first time. She definitely did more than just greeting the audience but she also sang snippets from her famous songs and more.
On October 24, the Grammy winner took to Studio 8H stage in NYC to host SNL Live for the first time ever where she showcased her amazing sense of humor, singing prowess, and hosting skills. Below are some of the most memorable moments of her SNL hosting stint:
She sang on American TV three years after her performance at the Grammys
Adele impressed viewers by singing snippets from her songs like “Someone Like You”, “Hello”, “Rolling in the Deep”, and “When We Were Young”. The last time the singer sang on American TV was in 2017 during the Grammys.
Adele has a great sense of humor
The singer kept fans entertained with her comedic mini-performances throughout the show. At one point, she was fighting for the “Ben K” heart of Beck Bennett. She said, “I’m here because I’ve had a lot of heartbreak in my life, first at 19, then sort of famously at 21 and then even more famously at 25. But I have a really good feeling about Ben K. It’s only Night One, but I can already tell he’s going to be the love of my life.”
She hinted about new music
The 32-year-old multi-awarded singer talked about new music on her opening monologue. She explained, “I know there’s been a lot of chatter about me just being the host. Like why isn’t she the musical guest and stuff like that, and there’s a couple of reasons: My album’s not finished, and I’m also too scared to do both.”
“I’d rather just put on some wigs… have a glass of wine or six and just see what happens,” she added. She also reminded the audience how SNL broke her career in America 12 years ago when she guested in 2008.
Adele talked about weight loss
Many were surprised to see the transformation of the singer after she lost weight last year. She jokingly said, “I know I look really, really different since you last saw me but actually, because of all the COVID restrictions and the travel bans, I had to travel light and only bring half of me. And this is the half I chose.”
